Hopes and Dreams
- Looking into the moonlit sky,
- thinking about my hopes, I sigh.
- So many times my dreams have died.
- I'm used to having wants denied.
-
- For every plan that I have made
- there waits a debt as yet unpaid.
- As no bubble goes unburst,
- I look to Heaven, feeling cursed.
-
- If there's a God, to Him I pray
- that just this once He'd look my way.
- Of all the things for which I've asked,
- just one more... it would be the last.
-
- Before time comes to take its toll,
- send me a love to fill my soul.
- Should I consider this absurd?
- Will my prayer go again unheard?
-
- I search in vain for a lucky star,
- but like my luck, its small and far.
- All hopes and dreams, into the night,
- again I cast with all my might.
