Lessons Learned
- Teardrops on the pillowcase,
- Love letters on the floor,
- Memories of what used to be,
- Only this and nothing more.
-
- A water colored sunset
- Does not ease the pain,
- As tear streams flow upon my cheek,
- Falling gentile as the rain.
-
- Now the circle is complete,
- My past has come back to me,
- With the shoe on the other foot,
- It's all so clear to see.
The words you spoke just yesterday,
Which brought us to our end,
Were spoken by me just a decade past,
Unto another friend
A thoughtless act so long ago,
When another's love I spurned,
Comes back to me so bitterly,
As a painful lesson learned.
