Voices
- I've held you much too close, my dear,
- And now I have to let you go,
- Troubled words come from inside me,
- As endless tears begin to flow.
-
- I hear two voices speak to me,
- Both from my mind and from my heart,
- One tells me that I love you so,
- The other says that we must part.
-
- One calls me to reality,
- And with open eyes I can see,
- That what I've hoped for all along,
- Is a love that could never be.
But when I hear the other voice,
And all the things it says to me,
I can not help but dream of you,
And think that we were meant to be.
In the end my mind must win out.
In sorrow, as we move apart,
I'll take a lesson from my mind,
And never listen to my heart.
